How to Pack Your Carry-On Bag
Thursday, December 10, 2015I have a love-hate relationship with packing. Love - because it usually means I'm going somewhere exciting and there are adventures to be had. Hate - because it's tedious and I usually just end up shoving everything I own into one bag and having to sit on it to get it to zip. That being said, it always pays to have an idea ahead of time of what you want to pack. Your carry-on bag for example - make sure it's filled with in-flight necessities, entertainment, and a few extras for whatever life has to throw at you.
How do I pack my carry-on bag? Here's my ideal packing list for keeping what you need with you.

In your carry-on bag of choice -
1 // Phone and Charger - Snap pics of the plane wing at
cruising altitude. Check in with your loved ones when you land.
Entertain yourself with apps.
2 // Headphones - For music and movies... and avoiding the
screaming baby five rows back or awkward small talk with your neighbor.
3 // Ipad - Great in-flight entertainment. Load it
up with movies to watch to kill time, read books, play games, watch more movies.
4 // Book or Magazine - More traditional, same idea.
5 // Wallet - For overpriced airport snacks.
6 // Passport - For actually being able to catch your flight. Don't be that person.
7 // Makeup - For touch-ups before your flight lands, bring
some makeup essentials like lipstick and foundation. Chapstick and lotion are also great for the dry air on the planes. And in the case that
your luggage gets separated from you, having some makeup and toiletries to freshen up on you
will come in handy.
8 // Gum, Snacks - To avoid aforementioned overpriced airport
snacks. And ears popping during takeoff or landing.
9 // Sunglasses - Practical, but mostly to look hella stylish when you
land.
10 // Water Bottle - Stay hydrated, my friends. Don't pay $5 for a bottle of water.
11 // Neck Pillow - Because those pillows they provide are
ineffective and you deserve to be comfortable. And also to avoid that awkward moment when you wake up to realize
you've fallen asleep on a stranger's shoulder.
12 // Notebook, Pen - Keep a journal while you travel! Take
the time you have on your flight to write down some hopes you have for your
trip or plan itineraries, or to recount memories made as you return home.
13 // Eye Mask - For when time zones start to mess with you and you really should be asleep but the sun is up. Or the cabin lights are on. No one likes jet lag.

Additional Tips -
*In case your actual luggage gets put on the wrong plane and
doesn't make it to your destination right away, it's smart to pack an extra set
of clothes in your carry on. In addition to your makeup, bring
some toiletries
for the same reason.
*Bring glasses and/or contact cases and solution for that dry air.
*In case of emergency, apply mascara to self before helping others.
*Need another way to kill some time on long flights? Adult coloring books. Let me tell you. I spent

practically my entire flight back from Europe entertained by this. And if you
don't want the extra
weight of carrying around another book -try the Colorfy
app!
What do you make sure
you have packed?
